What began as an April Fool's joke is now becoming a reality: from now on, holidaymakers can experience Mallorca from a completely new perspective - in a Hot air balloon<\/strong> in the Eurowings jet design<\/strong>. The newest attraction on the island is called \"Burgundy Dreams<\/strong>\" and offers the opportunity to experience Europe's No. 1 vacation island from up to 500 meters altitude<\/strong> to explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From April Fool's joke to tourist attraction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On April 1, 2024, Eurowings jokingly announced that it would enter the business with Hot air balloon rides<\/strong> to take off. What began as an April Fool's joke sparked such enthusiasm that numerous balloon pilots applied to the airline and many holidaymakers asked for specific launch dates. The response was so overwhelming that Eurowings decided without further ado to actually have the balloon produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The balloon was produced in a special factory in Barcelona<\/strong> and shows not only the Eurowings colors and lettering, but also the outline of an airplane - with Cockpit, tail unit<\/strong> and Wings<\/strong>. \"As the largest airline to and from Mallorca, it is part of our brand essence, Vacation fun<\/strong> to communicate,\" explains Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof<\/strong>. \"An April Fool's joke learns to fly - and now there are balloon trips over the sunny island instead of a scheduled connection from D\u00fcsseldorf to Mallorca.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical details and operation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Hot air balloon<\/strong> of the type M160<\/strong> is offered by the company Mallorca Balloons<\/strong> operated since 37 years<\/strong> is active on the Balearic island. The start takes place in Balloon port of Manacor<\/strong> in the center of the island. With a capacity of over 4,500 cubic meters<\/strong> and a height of more than 22 meters<\/strong> the balloon is an impressive sight. In the basket under the balloon you will find four to five travelers<\/strong> Place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
