Here it is again, the new week - and on Mallorca it always feels special somehow. October has taken the island into its calm arms. The oppressive summer heat has disappeared, the beaches are breathing a sigh of relief and the locals seem a little more relaxed. Beaches - Now the sea is yours again<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is something magical about the beaches in October. No more towel fights, no more hastily erected parasols - instead you'll find quiet bays and miles of sandy beaches where you can really feel the calm of the sea again. Cala Millor<\/strong> or Port de Pollen\u00e7a<\/strong>? These are perfect places to take a long walk on the beach. The sun? Warm, but pleasant. You don't need a hat, just yourself and the view of the sea. The week doesn't start hectic here, but gently, almost whispering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hiking in the Serra de Tramuntana - the mountains are calling!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

October is hiking season, and when you are on the island, there is no way around the Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong> over. The famous Cam\u00ed de s'Arxiduc<\/strong> in Valldemossa<\/strong> is a classic that you have to experience once. The air? Of course. The views? Breathtaking. And best of all, there's always a small bar at the end where you can reward yourself with a glass of Mallorcan wine. Markets on Mallorca are an experience in themselves. The Market in Sineu<\/strong> on Wednesday is one of the oldest and liveliest on the island. Here you can find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to handmade leather goods and Mallorcan delicacies. It smells of herbs, smoked cheese, sunshine and the countryside. If you want to feel a little Mallorcan joie de vivre, then simply stroll through the stalls and let yourself drift. The week starts here with a real taste of the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culinary delights - The heart of Mallorca<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

And while we're on the subject of food: October brings the flavors of the harvest season to your plate. A visit to one of the rural Celle restaurants<\/strong> is a must. There are Tumbet<\/strong>the typical vegetable dish of the island, or Sobrassada<\/strong>the spicy paprika sausage, which you should definitely try.
