Mallorca kicks off the pre-Christmas season this weekend (November 23 and 24) - and how! Palma is ablaze with lights, Swedish Christmas magic beckons in Av. Joan Mir\u00f3 and indie rock sets Es Gremi alight. There are also cultural highlights and charitable events that appeal to all the senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magic lights in Palma: the big moment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n


On Saturday evening (23 November), Palma will once again become the festive center of the island. Three parades begin at 7pm, carrying futuristic costumes and bright colors through the streets of the city center. The routes: From Carrer Riera via Carrer Uni\u00f3 to Pla\u00e7a Joan Carles I, from Parc Sa Feixina to Avinguda Antoni Maura and from Carrer Sant Miquel via Pla\u00e7a Major to the Town Hall Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 7.40 pm, central squares are transformed into creative stages: Circ Bover performs acrobatics in Pla\u00e7a Mercat, dancers tell fairy tales in Pla\u00e7a de la Reina, and moving sand paintings reminiscent of the origins of the universe are created in the town hall square. The highlight follows at 8.30 pm with the big countdown, when the lights go on in 226 streets of Palma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julbasar: Swedish Christmas in Palma<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n


On Saturday and Sunday (November 23\/24), the Swedish Christmas market at Av. Joan Mir\u00f3 113 brings Scandinavian charm to Mallorca. From 1pm to 8pm, Gl\u00f6gg, Pepparkakor and handmade products invite you to ring in the Advent season in a Nordic way. Admission is free and the atmosphere is as relaxed as it is warm - an insider tip for Christmas fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cultural and musical highlights<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n


At the Teatre Principal, Jos\u00e9 Sacrist\u00e1n will delight audiences on Saturday and Sunday at 6 pm with \"La colecci\u00f3n\" by Juan Mayorga. Those who prefer a more rocking experience can enjoy the Spanish indie band Le\u00f3n Benavente at Es Gremi. On Saturday at 10 pm, the band will present their new album \"Nueva sinfon\u00eda sobre el caos\". Broadway feeling is provided by \"Chicago\" in the Auditorium Palma. The good cause is also being thought of: In Sa R\u00e1pita, the Palma Gospel Choir will be performing on Sunday at 6 pm in the Santa Coloma church. The proceeds will go to the flood victims in Valencia. At the Son Baul\u00f3 cultural finca in Lloret de Vistalegre, island expert Axel Thorer will be reading from his new novel \"Ausgedient\" at 1 pm on Sunday.
