Mallorca lovers take note: Eurowings has come up with something special to make the flight to the sunny island seem more environmentally friendly. From now on, there is a new companion on the Majorca routes - the organic smoothie "SAFt". For 19.50 euros, passengers can not only enjoy fruit, but also offset their own CO₂ emissions. A little sun and sustainability all at once - how well that can be marketed.
SAFt: Smoothie for climate protection?
The fruity "SAFt" is more than just a drink. With their purchase, passengers make a contribution to "offsetting": 10 percent of emissions are reduced through sustainable kerosene - produced from biogenic waste such as cooking oil, which is mixed with fossil kerosene. The remaining 90 percent is to be offset via a climate project portfolio. A big step? Perhaps. For Eurowings, it is certainly a step forward in terms of image, as no other vacation airline has used this system to date.
Technology and strategy: From juice to SAFt
The organic smoothie from "kraftschluck", a Nuremberg start-up, is not only climate-friendly, but also high-quality: Organic fruit, no added sugar, short transportation routes. But the concept is clear: SAFt is intended to serve as a small, green "purchase incentive" that gives something back to travelers - and gives Eurowings a reputation as a climate-conscious vacation airline. However, the drink remains a mixture of climate protection and clever marketing.
For vacationers who want more
With the smoothie, Eurowings is targeting all those who not only want the sun but also a green conscience on their trip to paradise. A little sip for the environment? An image that resonates? What remains certain is that with SAFt, Eurowings is setting a brand for the new claim: Sustainability above the clouds.
