German aviation is on the move - in the truest sense of the word. While some airlines are cutting connections, others are focusing on expansion. And right in the center of attention: Mallorca. The Balearic island remains one of the most popular destinations, even if the routes to it are changing.
Ryanair is withdrawing - but not everywhere
Ryanair is saying goodbye to Dortmund and Dresden airports from summer 2025. This also affects the popular connections to Mallorca. The reason? The Irish airline is complaining about high fees and taxes in Germany, which make operations unprofitable. But Lübeck remains an exception: the Mallorca route is to be resumed here from the summer half-year 2025. A ray of hope for northern German sun worshippers.
Condor: Expansion and adaptation
While Ryanair is pulling the ripcord, Condor is expanding elsewhere. From June 16, 2025, there will be daily direct flights from Dortmund to Mallorca - a significant increase compared to last season.
But Condor will not remain active everywhere. Flights from Rostock-Laage to Mallorca are being discontinued. The airline justifies this with increased costs and insufficient demand. This shows that Condor also has to react to market conditions.
Alba Star: New opportunities for Kassel-Calden
The Spanish airline Alba Star is seizing the opportunity. From May 2025, it will take off twice a week from Kassel-Calden to Mallorca - always on Thursdays and Sundays. This service is set to continue until the end of October 2025, giving travelers from the region another option for reaching the Balearic island.
Eurowings remains stable
While Ryanair and Condor are cutting connections, Eurowings remains a reliable player for travelers to Mallorca. No cancellations, no cutbacks - the current offer remains unchanged. Good news for travelers: stability is sometimes the real luxury.
Mallorca: a destination that stays
The island remains easily accessible for Majorca vacationers, even if the journey is becoming more variable. Smaller airports such as Kassel-Calden or Lübeck are gaining in importance, while larger airports such as Leipzig are losing connections. But one thing is certain: Mallorca will remain a fixed point - in flight schedules and in the hearts of travelers. Because anyone who has ever experienced the special light of the island knows that no airline can take this magic away from you.
