FIET 2024

From the October 17 to 20, 2024 the tranquil little town is transformed Vilafranca de Bonany once again into a vibrant center for children's and youth theater when the Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de les Illes Balears (FIET) celebrates its 22nd edition. Since its inception in 2002, this unique festival has become one of the most important performing arts events for children and young people in Spain, attracting thousands of visitors every year.

A wide range of offers for the whole family

FIET offers not only classical theater performances, but also a colorful mix of circus, dance, music and street theater. About 100 professional players and more than 35 theater groups from Spain, Denmark and the UK present their latest productions. The performances take place at various venues in the city - from public squares to schools and theaters. There will also be a variety of interactive activities for younger guests, including workshops and performances suitable for children.

A festival of encounters

FIET is not only a pleasure for the audience, but also an important meeting place for theater professionals. On the Slow Meetings producers, directors and artists come together to create creative synergies and initiate new projects. This year, the focus is on Sustainability and accessibility in the theater, a topic that is becoming increasingly important. It is particularly noteworthy that over 1,670 pupils from 16 schools can take part in the morning performances as part of the "L'escola va a la fira" project.

Nothing works without volunteers

What makes FIET so special is the Community behind the festival. Every year, over 50 volunteers and 43 host families from Vilafranca and the surrounding area are helping to make the event a success. They not only help with the organization and ticket sales, but also provide accommodation for the artists. Their active support gives the festival its special, family atmosphere.
