Despite stormy weather conditions on the Playa de El Molinar in Palma, German pop singer Tanja Lasch's mood is not dampened. She defies the weather with verve, a beaming smile and light summer clothing, a picture of good humor and lightness.
Tanja Lasch is not only a well-known voice on the stages of Germany, but also a new resident of the sunny island of Mallorca. In an interview with isla Magazine, she shares her fresh impressions and plans for the future. "The removal van has just left. It already feels so great," she says, visibly excited about her new home.
The singer, who fills large halls in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and whose songs inspire millions, sees Mallorca as more than just a retreat. She wants to put down roots here, inspired by the island's scenic beauty and cultural vibrancy. Her decision to move to Mallorca was spontaneously accelerated by a job offer for her long-time partner Reik, who was stationed in Palma as a pilot with Ryanair.
The 48-year-old artist plans to continue her creative work from the island, supported by state-of-the-art technology that allows her to compose and produce from anywhere. "All I need is my laptop and my microphone," she explains, while remaining active in the DACH region's music scene.
Tanja and Reik have opted for a spacious apartment with a sea view, and the proximity to the airport offers ideal conditions for Reik's job and Tanja's touring needs. Despite the new surroundings and the changes, the couple are keeping their main residence in Berlin so that they can commute flexibly between the two worlds.
Tanja has already taken the island firmly into her heart. "We just love Mallorca," she says with shining eyes. Her attachment to Spain is deeply rooted; even as a child she spent many vacations on the Costa Blanca. These early experiences still shape her affinity for Spanish culture and lifestyle today.
As well as adapting to her new life on Mallorca, Tanja is already planning to leave her musical footprint on the island. Discussions with local promoters and restaurateurs suggest that it won't be long before her voice can be heard here too. But until then, she is enjoying the peace and quiet and the inspiring surroundings: "We are taking our time and looking forward to everything that comes," says Tanja Lasch, the islander who has come to stay.
