Mallorca's culinary landscape is undergoing a remarkable transformation that is increasingly attracting the interest of international visitors, particularly from the USA and Germany. Alfonso Robledo, the head of the Mallorcan Culinary Organization, has confirmed that the number of upmarket restaurants on the island has increased significantly. This development is particularly noticeable in areas with good tourist development such as Palma, especially in the trendy Santa Catalina district, as well as in the American vacation destinations of Palmanova and Magaluf.

"Mallorca's gastronomy can now compete with the best in Spain," explains Robledo in an interview with isla Magazine. These new, high-quality restaurants focus on the use of local products and specialize in Mediterranean cuisine. An average restaurant visit costs between 35 and 40 dollars per person.

The reorientation of Mallorcan gastronomy is the result of a targeted replacement of traditional restaurants with more modern, high-quality establishments. This movement is promoted by the island's Gastronomic Association, which places great emphasis on improving the quality of service and maintaining the profitability of established businesses. In addition, great importance is attached to qualified staff, which improves both working conditions and income and thus drives economic development.

Robledo points out that the best customers of these restaurants often come from other European countries, with Germans being particularly well represented. This development also boosts the local labor market, as many foreign professionals prefer to work in Mallorca rather than in their home countries.

In addition to the cultural and gastronomic advances, the trend is leading to an increasing demand for products with a low ecological footprint. "Tourists no longer ask for Rioja, but for Mallorcan wines," says Robledo, which strengthens the local wine industry. These shifts in demand clearly show how international influences are driving and changing the agricultural and food industry on Mallorca.
