After a series of cool and windy nights, the weather in Mallorca is showing its warmer side. Meteorologists from the Aemet climate service are forecasting a significant rise in temperatures. From a maximum of 20 degrees on Thursday, the mercury is set to climb to a pleasant 24 degrees on Friday, reports isla Magazine.
The weekend promises to be even friendlier, with maximum temperatures of 26 degrees, ideal for trips to the sea. Locals and tourists can look forward to perfect conditions to enjoy the island's many beaches.
However, the warmth is short-lived. Temperatures are expected to drop back to just over 20 degrees in the coming week. Fresh rain showers are also expected, which could provide a welcome cooling effect.
The unexpected change in the weather follows a period of exceptionally high temperatures that had previously attracted many people to the beaches. Some places on the island recorded temperatures of around 30 degrees. On Wednesday, however, the heat level was only just exceeded. The highest temperatures were recorded in Binissalem at 21.9 degrees, followed by Llucmajor at 21.5 degrees and Porreres at 21.4 degrees. Artà (20.9 degrees), Muro (20.6 degrees) and Sineu (20.4 degrees) also experienced milder conditions.
The current ups and downs in temperatures on Mallorca are keeping residents and visitors on their toes and show once again how quickly the weather can change on the popular vacation island.
