At the end of September, Llucmajor comes alive with celebrations. For more than two weeks, the town hosts the Fires de Llucmajor, a festival deeply rooted in its history. Local people gather to celebrate the town’s cultural, commercial and social life, with October bringing a series of festive highlights.

Fires de Llucmajor brings long-standing traditions together with a contemporary spirit. Its varied programme celebrates the community and its shared life. This year’s events span more than two weeks, with the different firas, or fairs, as highlights.

Although celebrations begin on 27 September, the First Fira traditionally takes place on Sunday 29 September. The day celebrates Sant Miquel with traditional activities.

The following weekend takes a different turn: on Saturday 5 October, the Frikijor geek-culture festival takes over Paseo Jaume III. From 10:00 to 20:30, the town becomes a meeting point for comics, games and fantasy culture.

On Sunday 6 October, visitors can explore the XXIII Fira Artesana and IX Fira de l’Oportunitat, featuring local and international crafts. Workshops, cultural events and family activities round out the programme. At 10:00, the Trobada de Gegants i Xeremiers brings together traditional giant figures and bagpipers.

The Mostra Llucmajorera, a showcase for regional crafts and businesses, opens on Friday 11 October and runs until Monday 14 October, the day of Es Firó. Shops and craftspeople from the area present their products.

The finale comes on Sunday 13 October with the Darrera Fira, or Fira Ramadera. This traditional agricultural fair cannot exhibit sheep this year, but features tools, an agility show and displays of different dog breeds and birds.

At 19:00, the “little horses” dance in front of the town hall: performers wear cardboard horse costumes, accompanied by xeremiers, traditional bagpipers.
At 19:30, Mass in the parish church, a floral offering, folk dancing and music.

Saturday 30 September:
At 18:00, a xeremiers concert on Placeta des Sabater. At 19:30, arias and zarzuelas at Convent de Sant Bonaventura (€12; tickets at ticketib.com).

Friday 4 October:
At 21:00, “Pamboliada” and lip-sync performances on Plaça d’Espanya.
Tickets at CIJ, Carrer del Rei Jaume I.
At 21:30, a choir concert at Convent de Sant Bonaventura.

Saturday, October 5:
Bargain market on the Passeig de Jaume III, from 10.30 am to 8.30 pm.
From 5pm "Gran Diada de la Glosa" (Mallorcan traditional improvised singing) in the Sant Bonaventura monastery. At 8.15 pm Ball de Bot (Mallorcan folk dance); at 9 pm live music with Expirafoc.cat.

Sunday, October 6:
Arts and crafts market on the Passeig de Jaume III, from 10 am.
At 10.15 a.m. parade of the "giants" (large figures) to Plaça d'Espanya and dancing.
